Fountain drinks and plain drinking water should use CTO Technology when chlorine is being used to sanitize the water.  CTO Technology uses activated carbon to remove the chlorine.  Some municipalities use chloramine to sanitize the water.  If this is the case it requires a catalytic carbon filter to remove chloramine.  Both of these additives, (chlorine and chloramine) can be corrosive to your equipment and may adversely impact the smell and taste of your products and should be removed through filtration.

Do not use CTOS technology on your fountain drinks as the scale inhibitor will adversely affect the carbonation, leaving your drinks flat.

High levels of calcium or high TDS can adversely impact the taste of your water based products.  If this is the case, an RO system may be the answer to your problems.
